We continue to be involved with competing for the Bowls Queensland All Schools Challenge Cup.

Jessie Sullivan and Curtis won the local division to attend the finals in Brisbane in 2010 & 2011. Curtis took on a new partner, Curtis Duff in 2012 and after winning the local division went to Brisbane to contest the finals. Making it to the final game of the event, the pair acquitted themselves very well but were beaten into second .We were all delighted at RBC to hear they won the silver medal.

In 2013 a new pair of Lachlan Miller and David Foxwell came on the scene. This pair was from the Rockhampton State High School. Winning the local division they went to Brisbane for the finals but found the opposition a little too strong.

The pair teamed again in 2014 and again won the local division. This time they were much more competitive and gained a lot more experience.

All School Challenge Cup

The All Schools Challenge Cup is hosted by Bowls Queensland and every High School in Queensland is encouraged to participate. The State is divided into Zones. The winner of the Zone would than play in the finals in Brisbane or wherever the finals are held.

All Costs are paid by Bowls Queensland for the teams attending the finals. The Challenge Cup started five years ago with a Townsville High School Team winning the first final. Last year was the first year that our area entered the competition. This competition is very popular and well supported in all areas of the State except our area. We have a lot of catching up to do and the Rockhampton Bowls Club is endeavouring to do this.

Bowls Queensland have made some very good changes to the All School Challenge Cup for 2011.

The competition will now be three bowl pairs. The winner from each area will compete in the finals in Brisbane. Our area is now assured of a trip to Brisbane (All expenses paid) to compete in the finals. The teams must be from the same high school and can be girls, boys or mixed.

The Club congratulates these students who never played bowls before to do so well.

Invitation to try Bowls

Parents and their children are invited to try bowls by arrangement and will be under no obligation to join the Club. The Club will supply the bowls and helpers. The Rockhampton Bowls Club is seeking enough juniors to participate in a Junior Bowls Competition. The Club will supply the bowls and will be under the guidance of our Junior Co-ordinate Brian Hegarty. Parents are most welcome to come along and to be involved. Interested Parents and juniors can contact the Club on 4922 1685 or the email address shown on this website. The competition will be held on a Friday night.

Mondays and Fridays after School. Refer Brian Hegarty or leave a message on the Club phone.

One of the few games where parents and their children can compete on equal terms.

We encourage parents to get a group together of about 20-30 including their children and learn to play bowls. This can be arranged one night a week ... the family that plays together, stays together.

Young people have a great future in bowls as more opportunity is now available to reach the Elite Group in bowls. A non-contact sport where you meet people from all over Australia where many lasting friendships have been made.

Statistics record that in a game of bowls you walk 1.5km, lift approximately 92kg; bend and stretch about 88 times and step up 21 times. There is no safer place to get your exercise than on the Green.

We will make you most welcome.
